Pacing the hall, Daeceon’s gaze remained locked on his female’s door. It had been two minutes from the time she ended the call to when he’d been able to trek to her side of the ship. His body thrummed with impatience. Daeceon considered barging inside, but remembered the last time he did something like that. It didn’t bode well and he ended up with more humans than what he bargained for.

When Miranda’s door finally slid open—an agonizing eternity later—his eyes burned into hers and he eagerly jumped forward, grasping her hand in his. As soon as her skin touched his, he tugged her toward his quarters, which by choice, was the room next to hers.

She reeled back, digging her heels into the floor. “What the hell, Daece? Slow down.”

Daeceon winced, his cock already throbbing. The thought of slowing at all caused him physical pain. “I am just anxious.”

Miranda huffed an uneasy laugh and Daeceon shot her an equally nervous smile. He tapped his palm against the panel to open his door. It slid halfway, stalling and grinding.

“Blasted ship,” he muttered, his face flushing with sudden embarrassment. With the tip of his boot, he kicked the frame and waited for the machinery to start working again. It didn’t.

“See, even your ship thinks this is a bad idea,” she pointed out dryly.

Daeceon’s eyes refused to meet hers as he dropped her hand, jammed his arm into the small opening, then thrust the door further open with a loud grunt. As it slammed into place, he shot her a triumphant grin and reclaimed her hand.

A short breath came from her as they entered and Daeceon watched her take in his cluttered room. He’d never given the space much thought, but observing her obvious distaste in the way he kept it…he felt shame for perhaps not straightening up a little before bringing her here.

She toed a pile of dirty clothing, her eyes flitting around the room wildly. “It’s—nice?”

Daeceon took in his cabin as she did, viewing it as she might. A large bed in the far corner. The sheets thrown on haphazardly, covering his many pillows. Pillows he had her believing were hard to come by. His clothing was tossed around the floor, along with various replacement parts to the water filtration system he’d been attempting to repair. He thought it would be a simple fix, but as it turned out, it wasn’t.

Stacked crates of various supplies blocked the mess of his desk from sight, and there was a distinct smell of burning rubber coming from some hanging wires in the ceiling above the shower, which could be seen because, like the door to his room, it had also stopped functioning. He had to tear it down. Also, not to mention the questionable stain in the center of the floor.

“Oh my God, Daece. Are you kidding me right now?” His Miranda had pulled away and inched toward the bed, pulling the blanket back. “I thought you said pillows were difficult to acquire!”

Daeceon coughed. “They are.
